Christmas Gadgets For Big Kids
It's nearly Christmas so there is the perfect excuse to get some gadgets. With all the 80's revivals happening, why not get yourself a piece of the action by stocking up on your handy utility tools? The only reason we ever watched the A-Team was to see what the fab four would build when they got caught and locked into a toolshed (complete with rusty tank, fuel, full garage facilities and welding gear, of course) and that screen Macuffin proved so popular it spawned an entire new series of MacGyver, the man who could build an Apache gunship out of an old tin of beans and some dog biscuits.
It may not help you save the world, but still useful nevertheless, one of the "gifts for him" you can buy for under a tenner is a key fob tool that packs in eight handy functions in an item no bigger than one of your keys. It takes up virtually no room, and will probably give long and faithful service as a bottle-opener, but also has three different screwdriver blades, a cutter and tweezers, the essential item that is seemingly indispensable in modern survival kits.
On the subject of survival, for the adventurous there are a number of portable kits, some as small as a credit card, that include firemaking magnesium flints and implements to hunt and fish, ideal for those situations when there is absolutely no restaurant or chip shop open late. It's ideal for 18th birthday gifts for sons or friends who celebrate a little too hard and may need to draw on their innate survival skills to make it back home. For the rest of the males out there, it's the perfect companion to the SAS survival guides gathering dust on the bookshelves from previous presents.
Of course the A-Team experience wouldn't be complete without unnecessary use of automatic weapons and dreadful marksmanship, so why not try a pair of battery-powered water pistols and run riot in the garden where there should be plenty of the A-Team's usual targets - flowerpots - to fire at.
